PRINCIPLE

The Fecal Occult Blood (FOB) Rapid Test has been designed to detect human hemoglobin through visual interpretation of color development in the internal strip. The membrane was immobilized with anti‐human hemoglobin antibodies on the test region. During the test, the specimen is allowed to react with colored anti‐human hemoglobin antibodies colloidal gold conjugates, which were precoated on the sample pad of the test. The mixture then moves on the membrane by a capillary action, and interact with reagents on the membrane. If there were enough human hemoglobin in specimens, a colored band will from at the test region of the membrane. Presence of this colored band indicates a positive result, while its absence indicates a negative result. Appearance of a colored band at the control region serves as a procedural control. This indicates that proper volume of specimen has been added and membrane wicking has occurred.

FAQ

Q: How to use fob rapid test cassette?

A: For Cassette:

Bring the pouch to room temperature before opening it. Remove the test cassette from the foil pouch and use it within one hour. ...

Hold the specimen collection tube upright and open the cap onto the specimen collection tube. ...

Read results at 5 minutes.

Q: Can hydrogen peroxide detect blood in stool?

A: During testing, a second chemical called hydrogen peroxide is added to the samples. If blood is present in the stool, a chemical reaction occurs when it mixes with the hydrogen peroxide and guaiac. In this way, the test can identify whether there is occult blood in the stool.

Q: How to use one step rapid test cassette?

A:  To Use the Pregnancy Test:

Collecting Sample: Use a clean, dry container to collect urine. ...

Starting the Test: Open the pouch and take out the test cassette. ...

Adding Urine: Use the pipette to add 0.2ml (about 4 drops) of urine to the sample well.

Q: What not to eat before a fecal occult test?

A: The things to avoid are:

Eating red meat. Chicken, turkey, or fish will not affect the test.

Consuming more than 250 mg of vitamin C from supplements or food.

Q: How fresh does a poop sample need to be?

A: For the most accurate results, a stool sample should ideally be under 2 to 4 hours old and delivered to the lab immediately.

Q: What does it mean when FOB is positive in stool?

A: A positive stool FOBT (Fecal Occult Blood Test) means hidden blood was detected in your sample. It does not mean you have cancer. Bleeding is most commonly caused by non-cancerous conditions like hemorrhoids, polyps, ulcers, or inflammation.

Q: How often should a 76 year old have a colonoscopy?

A: Most people should get a colonoscopy at least once every 10 years after they turn 45. Once you turn 75 years, a healthcare professional may recommend that you no longer get colonoscopies for screening. The risk of complications can outweigh the benefits of this routine check as you get older.
