INTENDED USE

The Fecal Occult Blood (FOB) Rapid Test is a rapid visual immunoassay for the qualitative presumptive detection of human hemoglobin in human fecal specimens. This kit is intended to be used as an aid in the diagnosis of lower gastrointestinal (g.i.) pathologies.

INTRODUCTION

Colorectal cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers and a leading cause of cancer death in the United States. Screening for colorectal cancer probably increases the cancer detection at an early stage, therefore reduces the mortality.

Earlier commercially available FOB tests utilized the guaiac test, which requires special dietary restriction to minimize false positive and false negative results. The Fecal Occult Blood (FOB) Rapid Test are especially designed to detect human hemoglobin in fecal samples using Immunochemical methods, which improved specificity for the detection of lower gastrointestinal. disorders, including colorectal cancers and adenomas.

FAQ

Q: What is a FOB Test Kit?

A: The FOB Test Kit is designed to detect bowel cancer in its early stages through a simple stool sample (feces) test. The test is easy to perform and provides accurate results within minutes, allowing for quick detection and treatment.

Q: What does a FOB test detect?

A: The Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) checks for hidden ("occult") blood in your stool. Because it cannot be seen with the naked eye, this blood indicates internal bleeding in the digestive tract.

Q: How long does a FOB test take?

A:  A fecal occult blood test (FOBT) takes anywhere from a few minutes to several days to complete, depending on the test type and whether it is a rapid at-home check or a laboratory analysis.

Q: Are any dietary restrictions needed before taking the test?

A: No, no dietary restrictions are necessary before testing with this immunochemical FOB test.

Q: How should a collected stool sample be handled?

A: Testing should be performed immediately after collection. If not tested immediately, samples can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 72 hours. For longer storage, prepared samples in the collection tube can be kept at -20°C for 6 months.

Q: What illnesses can be detected from a stool sample?

A: A stool sample can help your doctor detect gastrointestinal infections (bacteria, viruses, and parasites), bowel cancer, intestinal inflammation (like Crohn's disease), and digestive or malabsorption issues (such as celiac disease or pancreatic insufficiency).

Q: What should you not do before a FOB test?

A: Starting 3 days before you begin collecting your stool samples, avoid: Red meat, such as beef, lamb or liver. Raw fruits and vegetables. Vitamin C, such as fruit juices with vitamin C and vitamin C supplements in doses higher than 250 milligrams (mg) per day.
