INTENDED USE
The H.Pylori Rapid Test is a rapid visual immunoassay for the qualitative presumptive detection of antibodies to Helicobacter pylori in human whole blood, serum, or plasma specimens. This kit is intended for use as an aid in the diagnosis of H. pylori infection.
TEST PRINCIPLE
The H.Pylori Rapid Test detects antibodies to Helicobacter pylori through visual interpretation of color development on the internal device. H. pylori recombinant antigen is immobilized on the test region of the membrane. During testing, the specimen reacts with H. pylori recombinant antigen conjugated to colored particles and precoated onto the sample pad of the test. The mixture then migrates through the membrane by capillary action, and interacts with reagents on the membrane. If there are sufficient antibodies to Helicobacter pylori in the specimen, a colored band will form at the test region of the membrane. The presence of this colored band indicates a positive result, while its absence indicates a negative result. The appearance of a colored band at the control region serves as a procedural control, indicating that the proper volume of specimen has been added and membrane wicking has occurred.
FAQ
Q: What should you not do before an H. pylori test?
A: To ensure accurate results for an H. pylori test (such as a breath or stool test), you must avoid specific medications and fasting right before the test. These restrictions prevent false-negative results
Q: What can mess up an H. pylori test?
A: Several factors can cause an inaccurate (false-negative or false-positive) H. pylori test.
Q: Can H. pylori go away on its own?
A: No, an H. pylori (Helicobacter pylori) infection rarely goes away on its own. Once the bacteria attaches to the stomach lining, it can persist for years-or even a lifetime-if left untreated.
Q: What gets mistaken for H. pylori?
A: H. pylori symptoms overlap heavily with other upper gastrointestinal issues. Because it causes gastritis and can lead to peptic ulcers, its primary signs-such as bloating, burning stomach pain, and nausea
Milk: While once believed to soothe ulcers, it actually prompts your stomach to produce more acid.
Q: What happens if I leave my H. pylori untreated?
A: Leaving an H. pylori infection untreated can allow the bacteria to continuously damage your stomach's protective lining. This can cause chronic gastritis, painful peptic ulcers, and a significantly increased lifetime risk of developing stomach cancer.
